Your Computer Specs

Thought it would be fun if we had a place to share it and perhaps even discuss some of the components. I'll go first.

Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-970A-DS3P

Processor: AMD FX-6300 Hexa-Core (3.5GHz, 14MB, 95W, AM3+)

Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760 2GB

Memory: 16GB (Adata DDR3 8GB 1600MHz (x2))

Storage: Seagate SSHD 1TB 7200rpm

PSU: Fortron Raider S 550W, 80+ SILVER

OS: Microsoft Windows 8 Professional Edition, 64-bit

I'd like to share my unpleasant experience with Radeon video card. I have bought this PC recently except at first I bought a different Video Card - Radeon R9 270X 2GB. I regret it ever since. I experienced random crashes and stripes-all-over-the-screen, and if you google about it you'll see there are many people having problems with Radeon R9 200 series so there's a tip for you. I have RMA'd it and it turned out to be faulty so I payed a bit more and got myself this amazing NVIDIA video card.

You can find out the specs by visiting System Requirements Lab. You should have Java installed for it to work properly.

Well, why an amd cpu? Intel one are better in any way unless you want an APU which you don't since you have a gtx760.

Anyway, mine is a 2011 i5 Mac mini with 8gb of RAM in which i stuffed an ssd thanks to ifixit.

Well it costs less, for one. For two, it isn't that bad actually. More than good for my needs.

Late 2013 Retina 13" MacBook Pro. 4 GB RAM and a 128 GB internal SSD (which isn't enough, so I use a 500 GB external HDD).

I have a PC and a Macbook Pro Retina 13", i do all my coding on the MBP and everything else like gaming, designing and such on my PC.

The Macbook Pro is a 13" Retina late 2013 with the i7 CPU at 2.8 Ghz, 16GB DDR3 memory and 256GB SSD drive.¨

Getting 16GB memory is the best thing i could have done, the computer is a MAJOR memory hog when all the development stuff is up and running including OS X.

The PC Specs

CPU: Core i7 870 2.93Ghz (3.6 GHz Turbo)
GPU: Nvidia Gforce GTX 670 2GB
Memory: 8GB Corsair Vengence

Other stuff is not that interesting, have dual 128GB SSD for games, windows and applications and a few regular drives for other stuff.

Late 2013 13" mbp retina as well. Dang, @NormySan, I wish I opted for the 16gb ram now. Coming from a debian os running gnome 2 + i3 windows manager...it fully booted at around 400mb of ram in use. I thought when switching over the mac os, there's no way I'll REALLY need more than 8bg ram.

MacBook Pro 15'' Late 2013

  • i7 2.3
  • 16GB 1600 MHz DD3
  • NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M 2048 MB
  • 500GB SSD
  • OS X 10.9.4

I have a magic mouse for Illustrator/Photoshop. I also have 2 21'' monitors. None of those get much use recently, I somehow returned to the laptop simplistic style recently.

NormySan's avatar

@lancebutler2 I was thinking the same thing when i was about to buy it then a friend persuaded me to get the 16gb since you can't really upgrade later on so better to pay those extra $$$ and have a computer that lasts a bit longer.

Dell XPS 15

  • 4th Gen i7-4712HQ Processor (6M Cache, up to 3.3GHz)
  • NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M 2GB
  • 16gb ram
  • 512gb ssd
  • (3200 x 1800) touch display

This laptop is superb and I highly recommend for any developer who doesn't mind working on windows. One of the best machines I have used - but I haven't tried a mac so maybe I don't know what I am missing :)

I also have 2 23" displays, wireless mouse and keyboard for when I work in the office.

lol I seriously need an upgrade. Built my own at a time when I needed something very cheap.

  • AMD64 Athalon dual core
  • 4 GB memory
  • Windows 7 64
  • GeForce 7900 graphics card

I had to lower the default memory for homestead ( it really doesn't need 2048 anyway) and Phpstorm is way too slow to use on this system but I like Sublimetext anyway and other than that everything runs good.

Pretty much the same for me as @abiggs

MacBook Pro Retina 15'' (Mid-2012)

  • Core i7 2.6 GHz
  • 16 GB 1600 MHz DD3
  • NVIDIA GeForce GT 650 1024 MB
  • 500GB SSD
  • OSX 10.9.4
  • One 27" Thunderbolt Display

Love that I can just unplug the laptop and "go mobile" whenever I want to. This beats my old PC Desktop & Laptop Combo from a few years back.
