I know this might be a lot to ask, but is there a possibility to allow users with a lot of XP here like @snapey, or @bobbybouwmann, even the users in the top 10 of the leaderboard to flag an answer/reply for example as "Not Helpful", because there are users just to get XP points will answer anything, without even providing a bit of details on why they think that that should solve the problem, and to teach the OP on what went wrong.
Another thing useful will be to let the experienced ones to mark even a question as "Duplicate" and let the users research a bit, because there are so many of the same questions, and the developers became lazy to even read the error message let alone to try out if they can solve it by themselves.
I am not sure if this was asked before, but I feel like it will be useful. And of course here is a new thread so someone else can share an opinion. :)
I agree, but i'm not sure on a solution for it. Perhaps moderators could be introduced (via an application form or something) or maybe Laracasts could scan for keywords either in the thread title, or description, and link to the docs page on Laravel, or a question that has already been asked on Laracasts.
I see some regular users, constantly posting questions that are defined and explained in the documentation, and I see others posting irrelevant answers to topics. Pair that with the bot accounts that are created to link us to shitty products.
Sounds like a good idea. Another idea could be to send out a mail for people with questions that have gotten replies but no Best answer marked, to remind them to close the issue.
And perhaps also make it possible to close an issue without a Best answer, if you solve the issue yourself
I'm not sure what the solution is, but this is a fairly common issue for any popular forum. I'm not sure what flagging a thread as "Not Helpful" would accomplish.
One thing I could do is display related threads immediately after a user enters a title for a new discussion.
@jeffreyway yeah, that will be helpful as well, but I am afraid that anyone posting a question will take a look at all, because they don't bother to google an answer for their question at all, as there are plenty of questions already answered on StackOverflow or here on Laracasts.
