Agreeing with @jimmy.puckett above - the ability to directly reference a video would be great.
Yeah - shorthand for linking to a video is a good idea. I'll have to think about what the syntax might look like.
What about the classic [[ shortcode ]] syntax ? E.g. [[ video id="15" ]]
@foxted - I suppose we could do that, but would it save any time? You'd have to hunt down the id.
@JeffreyWay, I think that your regex on the @User.Name is not catching my username "@jimmy.puckett".
what about ">videoTitle:min.secs". The '>' would denote 'play', and you could link directly to the referenced time in the video, similar to linking to youtube videos.
(The idea here would be to create a new tag type '>' next to '@' and '#' for multimedia that would apply to audio and video.) :)
I prefer to just copy the link instead of finding a shortcode. But it would be nice to be able to link to a specific min:sec and also to filter discussions about that video.
@JeffreyWay I guess it could work with the title/slug as well [[ video title="" ]]. An option for the serie would be nice too [[ video title="" serie="" ]]. Or maybe like hashtags #title, with some kind of autocompletion.
Another idea: all read button on topics list.
Thanks, guys. I'll do some thinking on that.
Up-Voting displays answers in a different view filter as top-most answer for discussion. So you can discuss problems like on stackoverflow and vote a correct answer or best practice as top-most answer to the question.
Jumping to the first unread post when opening a discussion would be nice.
I see a like button but it not working now :( hope it will work soon. Edited: * Now it works!! *
@JefferyWay But I you can change that its will be redirected to the last page where the reply appears.
This is a trivial usability case, a placeholder text in reply box would be appreciated. I instinctively clicked the "Post Your Reply" button thinking that this will reveal a text area or something but it submitted the blank form instead. Please make the reply box distinct. Here is an image of what I am talking about.

@jeffreyWay Thanks, guys. I'll do some thinking on that.
How about a textbox under the video where we can type something during playback and it will start a discussion from that particular point ? Just like how SoundCloud does it, but in sound cloud those are only comments. In our case this could be a new post in forums which would include the title of video and time in video at which the comment was posted. I can imagine a quick conversation kind of thing where during video playback you see something you want to discuss and you pause the video there, write a comment and post it. Then you continue watching the video and later on come back to the conversation thread to find answers to your query. does that interest anyone ?
Continuing on my last reply, here is a quick mockup of what I said

Mark all as read?
I would love to see the "Accepted Answer" or "Best Answer" being displayed at the top of the post-page. It's awesome and saves time for users that are new to the thread.
@Gufran - Yeah, I like that idea a lot.
@JeffreyWay I just accidentally "liked" a post and had no feedback. I wouldn't have even realized I liked it if I haven't accidentally read the same post few minutes later, just to realize then I have liked it.
Perhaps some kind of feedback would be nice when you perform that action.
@toniperic - The thumb will turn red, and you'll see the count increment by 1.
Some additional feedback:
The ability to quote someone (bonus points if we receive a notification when quoted)
AJAX all the things!
Ability to link directly to a video
An inline code editor (this would be an amazing feature, and something no other forum I use can seem to manage)
Turning the forum into a package and putting it on github so I can submit pull requests for all these features ;)
The ability to quote someone (bonus points if we receive a notification when quoted)
You can quote with the > symbol :)
Turning the forum into a package and putting it on github so I can submit pull requests for all these features ;)
If the forum was on Github, I'd definitely spend a good amount of time implementing some cool features.
+1 for Github. This is going to be fun :)
The regex that catches the twitter-like mention picks up unwanted dots, like in your post in this topic.
Another thing, maybe add an ID to the post, and a way to get a link directly to that post.
Place pagination links at top of the thread also, not just the bottom.
Loving it so far! On win7 the font for posts is somewhat light and hard to read. Looks better with the extra anti-aliasing on mac. Would be nice if it was easier on the eyes all around though!
Damn you, Windows. :) haha.
Any chance of changing the leading of the display font? The current font is nearly impossible for me to see (I have vision issues which I have noted before). Even when in "blind mode" on my computer, it is still quite difficult to see.
FWIW, the actual leading of the editor font when composing this note, is easier on the eyes.
Where are the recent forum posts? Do you reimport them? Is there any archive?
- forum index: rows too high, avatar too big, create one more column.
- add new link to jump to the last thread post
- edit post: jump back to my edited post
The font is nice but #555 is too hard to read. Changing it to black does help a lot. I'm on Windows though.
