From what I can see, it is only the newer videos that won't play for me. I've had some work but most I get the same error as everyone else in this thread. I'm using an ipad 2 running iOS 7.* (don't know the exact version off the top of my head.) and chrome. The problem first started for me when you changed the video player @JeffreyWay. Maybe that is the root cause. But I also can't download those videos to view offline.
The new player fixed mobile issues for most people.
It's a tough problem, because there are so many different devices to account for. I have an iPad 3, and every single video on the site plays just fine.
I have an ipad 3 and most of the newer videos are not working :(
I have an iPad Air, and some of the lessons in Laravel 5 Fundamentals series (Ogres Are Like Middleware etc). Most of the videos work fine so I don't think it's a device issue - I would imagine it's some kind of encoding issue.
Im trying on Ipad iOS 8.3 with Safari, Laravel 5 fundamentals and I'm still getting the error.
I have same problem. This latest iPad with latest iOS and some videos work in fundamentals and others don't. My list is the same as the previous poster. I think you need to look into the differences with those fundamental lesson videos
Having the same problem on ipad mini 2, safari. Latest ios and safari versions. Was able to watch the first two videos on the "build your first app" series, but subsequent videos give the error message mentioned above. Need this on my ipad, as I play videos from it and do my work on my macbook.
On iPhone with iOS 7.1 videos don't work on Safari. With the previous player, they worked.
Edit. Well that's not correct: older videos works too, now, but I can't tell how old.
iPhone 6 running 8.3. Some work, some do not. The intro to eloquent is one example that doesn't play.
Ive found that if you change the video mode from HD to SD, the problem videos will work. Video quality takes a pretty big hit though...
I have the same issues with video playback iOS8.3 and I am not logged in. Some on the Laravel fundamentals work but most of them does not. Just seeing a X. One video was just a blank screen with sound, but after reloading it worked.
I cannot see a pattern more it's random for me.
It's a bummer with all the great content! I usually watch screencast on my spare time away from the computer.
Regards Jan
I can reproduce the problems on the iOS Simulatior on Yosemite. Seems the problem is the media-format. If it helps here is a screen shot:

Just sat in bed to watch for the first time from a mobile device (galaxy tab) and got this error
please can anyone here help, i can't learn laravel further, i can't watch any videos on laracasts anymore. i've tried from my pc, android phone, and android tablet, ipad, iphone. none of them can work. "video could not be loaded ... ... ..."
For me some works some doesnt, using an android phone and also tried on a tablet.
Mostly laravel 5 fundamentals starts with ogres are like Middleware
Even so new player and site , the problem still with me on ipad air .
I have problems with some of the videos as well (others are working fine), but only on my iPhone. Can it be related to video encoding?
im also encountering this issue, and this is the only reason why i have subscribe to the service yet... so annoying
I couldn't get chrome on iOS or Android working a few weeks ago but it works fine now.
All videos work for me, on all my devices :D
I have the same problem, but the videos start playing fine, but stop after a moment only showing the X and the error message. I play on HTC one M9 with Android 6. I can refresh the page scroll the playhead to some moment close to where it crashed and it will play fine again for several minutes. In the new Vim series I have to do this refresh and scroll cycle about three times per video to finish watching it. Personally I suspect it could be related to buffering (and thus explains why the problem is happening less at SD as others mentioned)
same here, some videos don't play, some stop in the middle. I'm on a moto g, browsing Google chrome on android L, from Brazil.
I was suffering with the same problem on my Android device + Google chrome mobile.
I solved the problem with the option "Request desktop site".
Now I can play all the videos, even in HD quality.
I hope this helps someone in the future.
My problems only seem to be android related. My iPad is working fine but as soon as I use the Nexus 7 I either get "media could not be loaded either because the server or network failed" instantly or I can play a video for a while and it will then suddenly spring up in the middle of a video (this has been Laravel 5.2 videos and Vue.js). Thankfully reloading the page allows me to carry on from where I left off for a little while longer usually, but if it happens at the start of the video then no amount of refreshes seem to get it working.
I'm going to try the "Request desktop site" suggested by @Danielalvez91 this evening and hope that works as I want to subscribe but if one of my devices doesn't work then I'm restricted as to when I can watch!
Well I have an answer. Its not ideal but it seems to work. If in doubt, ditch Chrome seemingly. I installed the Dolphin browser and everything worked. It might be a temporary solution as it may fail after several plays but the few I've just tried all worked straight away whereas when I flipped back over to Chrome it failed straight away. This is on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow. Hope that helps someone else. The "request desktop site" didn't have an effect for me unfortunately.
