FYI, was curious and just tried it on phone and tablet and it worked on both. It was on iOS devices and tried both Safari and Chrome. Worked on both. Don't have another device to try unfortunately.
Videos on Mobile Not Working
Is anyone else having issues playing the videos on mobile? I'm getting an error saying "The video could not be loaded, either because the server or network failed or because the format is not supported." Guessing this is related to the change to vimeo.
Dealing with mobile playback is so annoying. :) It's the hardest thing for me to debug, because it works for 95% of people.
@ltrain - Can you tell me which phone and browser you're using?
@JeffreyWay I completely feel your pain. I checked it again and realized I was on private mode so I switched to regular mode and it did work, so something in the private mode must be blocking it but no need to look into it, least for me. If anyone else mentions it it was mobile Safari on iOS 8.1. Thanks for the response and the incredible work you do here and in the community!
Hmm, it not working in private mode is pretty weird. Will have to check that out. Anyways, glad you got it figured out.
Jeffrey videos playback are not working on my galaxy tab I . Android 4.2.2 - Chrome v41.0 . Get sound but no video.
On my Galaxy Nexus 9 with Android 5.x it's working fine! Happy that I can watch video's fullscreen now on my tablet. Thanks! ^^
On my HTC ONE, only older videos work.
Same here on iPhone 5s, no videos work. Says "This video could not be loaded, either because the server or network failed or because the format is not supported." I've tried it on multiple browsers, Safari, Chrome, Mercury
Windows 8.1 Nokia Lumia phone as I have stated all the. Pre-laravel 5 videos work fine, since then only some do not. I get a can not play this type of file error even though it is an mp4. Since my phone updated to 8.1 I can't click to play, I have to use download.
Matter of fact the activity lessons part one works, part 2 doesn't.
I see same as @jekinney : activity feed part 1 works on iPad, but not part 2. Weird?
Video frame displays same error as others reported:
This video could not be loaded, either because the server or network failed or because the format is not supported
l.
Me too, @londoh and @jekinney. I see the same error on IPad.
Oh sorry, I tweeted and sent a customer service request about this. I'm also having problem as I mentioned on twitter, my request with iPad and iPhone on both Safari and Chrome on some videos. There are always the same videos which is giving me trouble.
Sorry for my "spam" everywhere.
@JeffreyWay I saw you commented in another thread about that you har problem to solve this issue.
Is It possible that some content is region specific in the hosting platform? I am from Sweden if that could help your research?
The error i'm having is a crossmark in the video which says this video is not possible to view and It might be because of network or server problem or that the format is not supported.
I'm having the same problem. Im in the uk using an iPad and Safari.
This video doesn't play: https://laracasts.com/series/advanced-eloquent/episodes/3
Yet this one does: https://laracasts.com/series/advanced-eloquent/episodes/4
And the next one doesn't. https://laracasts.com/series/advanced-eloquent/episodes/5
I see the same as ZetecVan on iPad in the uk. All work ok on kubuntu and fedora machines
Same problem here. It occurs when switching to "SD" quality on Android (Nexus 5) Google Chrome.
Some Feedback... My iPad Air 2...
Using Safari, some videos don't play, some do. Using MobileCab browser, same thing. MobileCab allows you to set the header for the browser. Thinking it might be a type of browser issue I went through all major browsers on Mac & Windows and Android and iOS (again, just the User agent header was actually being changed). So it has nothing to do with the browser itself.
MobileCab also allows you to accept downloads. So, for example on the Activity Feed Part 2 video that won't play, I hit "download". Once it downloaded I tried to view it through the iOS video player and it couldn't be read. I used a 3rd party video App as well that plays more Videos Fixed (the VLC of iOS if you will...called Player Xtreme). It didn't work in there either.
So I downloaded that video on my Mac, and then synced it to my iPad. Still wouldn't work.
98% of the videos I have encountered on my iPad work just great. Only a few have issues (with the Activity Feed Part 2 being one of them).
Confirmed it's not a browser based issue, it's a device based issue. That means it has to be in how it's encoded. I assume you are encoding using .H264. I am wondering if some metadata is messed up somewhere in the file that is causing the device not to see it as .H264.
Anyway, just wanted to provide some feedback from what my experience was. Best of luck!
Here also problems on my iPad 4.
Laravel 5 fundamentals series:
working video's: 1,3,6 Not working 2,4,5,7,8
Rest of the series not tested. The error is the same as mentioned by others in this topic.
They did work in the past though, never had any problems before. Maybe it has something to do with the recent IOS 8.2 update? Please fix it because I like to use my tablet for laracasts video's.
Database Transactions (video 3) from the Intuitive Integration Testing series doesnt work on iPad air. same error message
https://laracasts.com/series/intuitive-integration-testing/episodes/3
also agree with klaaz's report for non-working vids on the fundamentals series.
And likewise I like to use tablet to watch videos.
I've absolutely no idea what the problem is but it would def. be good to get it sorted.
Regards
l.
I'm seeing the same as @ZetecVan on my iPad in Safari. I'm in Australia.
Use the Source, Luke (https://laracasts.com/series/advanced-eloquent/episodes/2) does not work on iPad, neither does pressing the Download link. Works fine on desktop. The download link takes you to the Vimeo Akamai link but just sits there "loading" and never does anything.
Episode 3 as mentioned does not work, while Episode 4 does work.
I've seen a few people mention it's the HD videos, which I believe is part of the problem. The old player used to at least be able to play the SD versions fine, but switching to HD or using the download link does not work on these videos.
It's very strange how it's not all videos, and only some of them that have this problem.
@JeffreyWay has anything changed with the new video player you are using? Is there any way to "force" the SD version of the video to load as in the past those were still watchable when the HD button didn't work?
I have the same problem on my ipad air and it occurs when I switch from sd to hd. But once I get the error I am unable to access the control to switch it back. Is there a way to put the hd/sd control on the sidebar?
I'm seeing the same thing as @ZetecVan on an original iPad Mini and 5s. I'm in Nashville, so it doesn't look like an international issue.
Same problem viewing this on an iPad Air
https://laracasts.com/series/laravel-5-fundamentals/episodes/9
Something seems to have gotten better the entire react series so far has work. The mentioned videos above still don't work.
All videos working with Samsung Galaxy S5 + Chrome v41. Even the ones mentioned by others here not working.
Hi all,
I have the same experience at home and work both on windows 7. I've only tried the free videos but I'm assuming it's the same for the paid for content? I don't want to risk any money until I know I can view when I need to
FYI I am experiencing exact same issue as Klaaz above. iPhone 6+ iOS 8.3.
This mostly happens in iOS-based devices. @eklundchristopher Only .mp4 video is loaded successfully on my iPhone
This is reellt annoying. When I plan to sit down and watch some videos and just 1 of 3 works. I would really like to know if I could help you @JeffreyWay with some issue searching etc.
I've tried everything I know in my way. Switched mobile browser, entering private mode, updated OS. Ps. I'm on iPhone and iPad.
