Student discount?

Hi!

I'm mainly addressing this to @JeffreyWay

I'm wondering if it would be possible to provide some student plan, here at laracasts. I'm currently a university student and I'm not saying that this $9 / month is that much but still not the cheapest thing out there (at least for me). I've been here for about 6 months so far, I really like Jeff's style and I dont want to cancel my subscription at all but I would really appreciate if there was some financial aid for students. Bigger companies often offer this, for example there's a significant discount on Wolfram's Mathematica, not to mention phpstorm which is free for students.

I dont want to beg here and I dont want to reduce your income, I just would like you to consider this.

Sorry if it was discussed here before

Is there a way you could get your school/faculty/teachers to sign up as a 'team'? Then let you and other students use the site like that? US$300-500 is probably a drop in the ocean for your institution? Maybe Jeffrey would be open to that as some kind of 'classroom' option - I know (certainly here in Europe) academia can be a bit 'funny' about signing up as a 'business'?

As ohffs said in Europe companys often offer some special discounts for "classroom/class" options. I think verification of each student from the whole wide world wouldn't be easy for Jeffrey. A classroom package would be better from my point of view.

I wasn't suggesting a huge discount or anything (the price is already really good) - but maybe just a differently branded option. Just that academia here can sometimes be a bit peculiar about being 'tainted' with 'business' ;-)

Three beers per month. That's too much money for a student? Really?

I agree that $9 is not that much, I've already told this. (Btw it's equal to 6-7 beers where I live). And I'm not asking for huge discounts, it would be just a nice gesture. This classroom option is also a good idea, however I dont think my university is open to this...

@balping find a friendly professor and get a few of your friends to pester them - it can work magic :-) ~$300 is cheap if it makes a bunch of students go away... ;-)

Or go with the yearly plan. Then it's about $7 per month. Also there's a yearly sale around thanksgiving. I'm a subscriber for $51 a year. That's a bargain.

Or start a team with fellow students for $300 a year. If you can get 5 people to join, you're in for $5 per month!

You can get 21 beers in a bar where I live for 9 usd. 42 in a supermarket. You should come visit Buenos Aires, you'll be pretty much rich.
