Disable autoplay feature

Hey Jeff,

Is it possible to give us an option to disable the autoplay feature? Or if the is in fullscreen, automatically disable the countdown at the end.

Asking this because sometimes you watch full episode and then you want to rewind (still in fullscreen) but end up redirected to next one by the countdown in background.

Thanks.

To add to this, I don't generally watch series linearly, I'll skip around starting at the topics I'm most interested in. Autoplay is an annoyance in that case.

Sometimes I want to scroll down and read the discussions after the video finishes. Autoplay is an annoyance in this case, too.

And sometimes I just don't want to watch another video right now.

But sometimes I do!

Autoplay really should just be an option.

Agree.

Autoplay really should just be an option.

I came from "google: how to set laracast autoplay off". So yeah Jeff, please add it on

As @yos_gani I came also here from google :) I have the problem, that I don't close the laracasts tab when closing the browser. So in some situations when reopening the browser , the video starts playing and completing the whole series. I'm using headphones, so I mostly miss it when the video plays in the background as the speakers are off. I hoped that setting the querystring from autoplay=true to autoplay=false helps, but when clicking to the next video it's set to true again. An option to set the autoplay feature in the profile settings would be appreciated.

I know this isn't exactly a solution but incase anyone wasn't aware.

Safari, by default, never autoplays video. So if you used Safari to browse the courses they won't autoplay.

Please add the option of disabling autoplay. Or at least add a few seconds to the countdown timer so we have enough time to cancel it.

disabling autoplay feature would be great since I find myself being in fullscreen very often and it's too late to cancel autoplay in time while I just wanted to go back to some videostamp or read comments

Is there no way to disable autoplay? It's been 4 years.

I don't think it's possible, currently am working with VideoJS and you can set a variable to a property in Javascript to trigger an event or a listener that when the video ends, it should do something, and actually in this series: https://laracasts.com/series/how-to-use-html5-video-and-videojs Jeffrey talks about how Laracasts (at the time) was using VideoJS and they had that featured implemented, so it seems they want to keep it.

Im gonna take a wild guess and say that it is because Laracasts as many websites they tend to have a flow for how users are going to experience using the website, it could be useful to have a setting somewhere to turn that on and off, I agree but unless the Vimeo player allows it, and unless they decide that that is no longer going to be part of the "Laracasts experience" then I don't know, it's really up to them.

Has anyone worked with Vimeo player in their website? Is it possible to turn on/off an autoplay feature? By default most browsers would mute the video on autoplay so you have to tell it via Javascript to unmute the video, it's actually one of the things that im trying to do on a project but I can't get it done (VideoJS)

Well heck, I'll add my +1 too... even though it's been 5 years now and this feature isn't implemented XD

For me it's frustrating because I'll often be writing down notes after the lesson and miss the countdown for the next one. If I want to stop at the end of the current lesson, it's annoying; if I do want to do another lesson, the autoplay is way too fast and I have to manually click to pause it anyways, so it's still annoying. Not to mention that it's not saving me any effort by automatically advancing AND playing the next lesson.

Okay, this is done. 👀

You can turn off autoplay in your account settings area.

Hello.

Is there a way to disable the autoplay for the video? I mean, not the jump to the next video at the end. But to disable the video to play automatically when you go to the next video page.

Ragards!
