I was offered project to create dashboard for NGO. I discussed with friend, he said that, the project will be much easier if implemented with say Wordpress. My knowledge in wordpress is not as good as in Laravel. Given that constraint, I decided to implement in Laravel, but he still argue that with WP will much faster, but for me, I have to tweak wordpress and learn more WP. Please kindly advise.
Go with whatever makes you more comfortable. At the end of the day you are the one building it! You have Laravel Nova, Laravel Voyager and many others that will bump you up quickly with the BREAD part. After that -> scalability, improvements, extending, speed are all the things you will benefit from.

WordPress and Laravel are two different things. WordPress is a CMS that people force to serve other functionality through a myriad of plugins. Laravel is a framework for developing web applications, so has everything you need to build applications, but hasn’t made any assumptions up front, so you have to create your models, an admin panel, etc.
