Videos! What can we suggest to Jeffery to make them even greater!

I am so thankful that Laravel has Laracasts and just like the name implies this site reminds me of Railcasts.

I actually like Jeffry better and I find almost something to learn in each video I have watched. However, as with any teacher they can always use feed back and not just praise.

As having been a teacher myself I can really appreciate all the work that goes into making a lesson which students most of the time have no clue that a simple 5-10 minute lesson can take hours just to prep which is why I have been rather reluctant to put Jeffery under a work load that makes the effort less than profitable.

NOTE: This thread is not intended to be a lesson idea thread which we really should have a thread for that by itself. Maybe, a forum tag for that would be a good idea.

Ideas:

  • having a git repository that is tagged on by lessons that way we can pull based on lessons rather than trying to weed through an on going work in progress
  • linking more often to key concepts -- 3 max. More than 3 ends up being an exhaustive attempt and makes making new lessons a PITA
  • having a guest section ... however, that is a business decision that might be more of hassle than benefit

Personally, I learn more by real world examples. So more "Let's Build An App" tuts would be nice (excited to see the lesson launching on Monday). Or setting up and/or using APIs.

Yes, Let's build App tuts would be awesome.

Another thing: Some videos /a video about the core concepts of laravel. Maybe also "related videos" e.g. If i watch a video where Requests are used, show me a video about Requests there.

Also, but this is a general video tutorial problem i don't know how to solve: Searching for something particular is really hard. Like yesterday, i had a problem and i KNEW jeff talked about it ... but i just could not find the video because it was not a dedicated video for that problem, but it was somewhere in the middle of a video.

I too am looking forward to the let's build an app series. I'm not beginner but there's pretty much always some sort of insight you can gain from watching. I would really like to a see more advanced version that dives deeper into the architectural side of things.

L5 made a big lurch towards a more hexagonal view of things but entities have me scratching my head. To the point where I just take the view that commands are pretty much use cases, do the donkey work in them, and leave it there.
