I can’t be the only one that has been unable to watch a laracast video for over 6 months due to the fact that some sort of memory leak freezes my whole MacBook Pro within 3 minutes of playback??
I don't know if this is your problem, but I came across something similar when streaming video from another site. It was because I had Chrome developer tools open, which was logging a lot of data until finally my system ran out of memory. Closing developer tools solved the issue.
So, make sure you don't have developer tools open :)
Although 3 minutes of playback doesn't sound like it may be the problem.. for me, it took about 2 hours before it exhausted all available memory.
@deansatch I'd reckon it was only a problem with the tools open in the same tab.. but who knows, there might be a bug in your version of Chrome . One way to find out is to close it everywhere and try viewing a long video and see what happens.
Yeah I watch videos on loads of other sites but this one just kills my laptop. To the point where I have to slowly position my mouse over the close tab button and click it then come back 5 minutes later to see if the tab is gone and I can take back control
When watching on my MacBook Pro I have to download every video and then watch it. It is very annoying cause I have to remember to check on Laracasts that I've watched that video.
I'm also having issues with https://tailwindui.com site where it spins up the fans to the max. Not sure why, but I think that those are only two websites that do not work properly on my laptop.
@sinnbeck for me, yes. Incognito does not help. Not related to any extensions. Even on new install. Safari is a bit better, but still very high CPU usage.
