Nicely done @JeffreyWay I really like that forum is more usable on mobile devices.
But I would like to see more specific pagination. At least some drop down menu or last page button because now when I open thread I cannot see how many pages this thread has.
A thing? The carousel of thumbnails on the home page exhibits a little bit of jank, and related to this is a bit of screen tearing trouble that arises from having large pieces of content moving horizontally across the screen.
Small stuff, but for me these tiny perf wobbles knock off a noticeable bit of polish.
I have this weird bug in Firefox 49.0.2 on Ubuntu 16.04. When I open this thread with a left-click everything looks fine. Middle-clicking though, which opens the thread in a new tab, does funny things to the main navigation up top. When I refresh the page in the new tab everything goes back to normal.
Another thing that seems buggy: when I type something in the newsletter subscription textfield at the very bottom of the page, the text I type is invisible. Also the text cursor gets all weird, like being half as tall as normal.
I think the new design looks slick, works well. One slight bonus would be the video player height set via viewport height. I Have many machines, and I like to (sometimes have to) switch between them and if a task takes a while, I might switch to Laracasts in-between; so the refresh does have video's a bit tall right now not perfectly in viewport (although fullscreen kinda fixes that).
@JeffreyWay, I noticed that after I completed all episodes in a series and went back to catalog page. The stream that contains serie still marked as incomplete.
@JeffreyWay The new design is fantastic, I just love the colors. There are lot of discussions & feedback is going on, The obvious question for may of us is what are the frameworks you used for the new design?
I'll add to the prevailing view that it looks brilliant! Not in any way overpowering, lovely use of space, great highlight colours, and really easy to read.
My only comments would be:
the left hand menu requires a lot of scrolling; maybe a toggle at the top?
would be good to see horizontal scrolling on code blocks as wrapping makes them hard to read
@beerbuddha ahh! yes, that is a bit 'spacious' maybe. Possibly one of these 'make it slick on mobile, or make it slick on the desktop' things. Possibly ;-)
@JeffreyWay I've just noticed that when someone tags me, it says that the notification was sent 15 hours ago but they replied 9 hours ago right after my post (within the same hour)
It does look incredible but it's a bit too white for my eyes.
Really nice & clean design, everything is in its right place, but yeah - maybe it's a bit too white: ) Anyway, I really like it, @JeffreyWay is a good designer ;)
I liked the (if I can remember the button name) "view catalog" on the home page that took you to a list of the latest videos in chronologic order. Loved that, was easy to see what was new. Where is that functionality in new design?
@JeffreyWay Awesome, love it, particularly bright colors.
Unfortunately, the new pair of pants somehow don't fit my laptop screen.:) The video size is now so small that I can barely watch it. If I increase zoom to 200% I lose the control of the pause button. If I switch to full screen I cannot work in my text editor simultaneously.:(
Not sure if I should post suggestions here or to a new thread, but in the forum, when replying to a post, it would be useful to be reminded what category it was posted in.
I just replied to one post not realising that the question was Spark specific. Often the category of the post tells you something that the OP forgot to mention.
