@JeffreyWay Love the attention to detail and snappiness of how pages are loaded, banners are rolled in, and even hovering over the laracast icon goes from teal to orange.

One feedback: in the old layout - the listing of the videos was minimal New layout - the list of the videos are HUGE icons and body.

I'm on a 23" monitor and the new layout makes me scroll a lot to go down to the latest video for PHP storm for example.

besides that small grip, everything in the refresh looks great so far.

@beerbuddha is that on the 'series' page? If so try clicking the humburger-esque icon near the top-right of the page and it goes to a more compact layout.

Love the new design... Is anyone else wondering who Todd is?

The videos are huge now, bigger than my resolution of 1920x1080 so I have to scroll to see the whole thing.

I really miss the ability to speed up a video, watching at 1.25x was more efficient for me, plus I had the added bonus of making you sound like a chipmunk.

Edit: I have also experienced the buggy menu that @shez1983 and @ohffs have mentioned. FF49.0.2 on Ubuntu, was just clicking through the pages in this thread in order, no new window etc, worked fine after a simple refresh.

Probably the first time I actually like a change of design right away. Usually I get upset of having to figure out where everything is but this is so neatly organized that I don't have any issues!

The new design is great, but I miss the "videos that have been uploaded since you last logged in" section from the old dashboard. It was a nice way to identify new content. I don't see a way to do that now.

I also ran across two display bugs on Firefox for Mac (haven't tested other browsers):

First, neither the text you're typing or the placeholder text in the email subscribe box in the footer is visible. Seems to be some combination of the box height and the padding that's pushing the text out of view.

Secondly, if I cmd + click a link to open it in a new tab, in the new tab the icon for "Catalog" in the main navigation repeats several times. It's very strange, but it happens consistently. Once I navigate anywhere else, it goes back to normal. It's just that first page load when opening a link in a new tab.

I expected this . At least you promised us in November this year in one of your podcasts. A credit for perfect time management. Laracsts looks great

Hey... It's very nice, great redesign of laracast.

Note: @JeffreyWay, I have founded a little bug in incrementation pourcent of lessons progress. I've try to click to two lessons quickly and then the pourcent count go, incrementation go to 240% and plus. The same problem like @rickbolton

I love the new design !! @JeffreyWay, 1 little thingy I noticed: when editing your profile, the country flag is always United States.

Oh, and you got yourself another subscriber :D

@JeffreyWay What happened to using Turbolinks? I remember in your Laracasts Snippet episode, you were talking about implementing it in your site.

I'm just curious if you ran into issues using it with Vue.js, as I am also planning a project doing the same.

I've been without visiting your site since I cancelled my subscription (6 mounts, 12 ago?) and I'm really amazed of all the changes done. It really feels top notch now. Congrats.

I like the new look. The video player is a little bit too big. It does not fit on my screen anymore. It is higher than my full screen browser window.

As the (in)famous J. Way might say: "Good job!"

Who's Todd?

Great job on the new interface!

One small thing I noticed is the code blocks are wrapping making them a little hard to read, any chance you could add .is-12 to the .column around the form question/replies and white-space: pre to the pre>code so it will scroll instead of wrapping?

@JeffreyWay how does one see which specific lessons or rather parts of a lesson has been updated? I notice the be awesome in phpstorm course was updated yesterday but there is a lack of obvious visual feedback that says what it was that was updated.

New design looks really nice by the way. Was the design yours? (I'm a designer turned coder.. So asking wearing the designer's hat )

There doesn't seem to be any way to get to my profile on mobile except finding one of my posts and clicking my name.

The first time I saw the new design I didn't know what I was looking at. I googled something Laravel related and found an answer on a forum on a site I have never seen before. I found the design of the site very interesting so after reading my answer and closing the browser tab I decided to take another look at the web site. So I opened my browser history and - surprise surprise - it was Laracasts.com :D

Laracasts must be a site with the most redesigns in the shortest period of time. Now that alone is worth the $9! The content is a plus though :D

Hi Jeffrey,

I love the design. Great job! On mobile I miss the breadcrumb in the forums and the search functionality.

Again, great job on the layout!

hmmm, first impression, I liked the old one better and can't find anything! Maybe I'll come around... It's also way too bright on the eyes and the page with the player too big!

@JeffreyWay "It does that on purpose. That way, you can continue filtering. "Of my completed lessons, further filter them down to easy Laravel videos, that are short in length."

Not that "My Laracasts". I was talking about the top right corner menu. ;)

Oh and btw, isn't the video player too "big"? In a 1080p the video is more than the browser's page height... Couldn't it be smaller?

skube's avatar

I don't know how you manage to do so much, so well and so fast! It's inspiring.

As for design, I just wish there was a dark theme too. ;)

Some noticeable bug on the landing page where users subscribe with their email. The input's box color and background-color are all white
