That's why a "Read Me! How To Post A Question" thread might be useful.

Quick moderation note: you'll see a little bomb icon below each reply. If you come across a comment that is inappropriate or spam, give it a click. That will notify me for review. Or, if enough people click it, the reply will automatically be removed.

That's cool, what about the main threads? Most spam ones are threads and not replies.

Thread reporting will be today or tomorrow.

Another quick thing: you can now favorite forum threads. When you click that star, it'll be saved under the "My Threads" dropdown in the forum navigation section.

@JeffreyWay nice thanks!

Would you also consider adding personal messages? It could potentially lead to harassment (worst case scenario of course) , but it could be handy if for example you have a question for someone that's considered offtopic.

Also could you try to add the "my threads" button to the mobile layout? I tend to read topics I've contributed to when I'm on the bus and it can be quite tedious to type ?filter_by=contributed_to on a mobile.

@JeffreyWay Nice additions! Laracasts is getting better and better :) I'm glad that I got a subscription.

One thing, can you try to make the "like" feature a bit more responsive? (I don't know what to say) Basically, I mean that it would be nice if you could make the like count and username list automatically update when you like a post.

Cool stuff @JeffreyWay, can't wait to see what's cookin'!

You've said "bombing" someone's post (marking as inappropriate) would delete the post automatically. Could you elaborate a bit more on how it works?

Could I make someone's post disappear just by creating dozen(s) of accounts and start "bombing" the same post?

JeffreyWay's avatar

@toniperic - Technically, I suppose yes. But then we'd bomb you. :)

A good number of people need to click on the bomb before it gets removed automatically. I'd rather give it a quick review myself first, which is what will happen 99% of the time.

@JeffreyWay If i'm right, you had implemented Elastic Search's system in Laracasts recently and something come in my mind.

I'm just asking (not suggesting), do you like the way Stackoverflow handle its questions? You know, before you post a question, it shows similar thread/posts using your title keywords, tags and so on…

I don't know if it's the best approach or if it's the best time to try this solution, but how do you like it? And you guys, what do you think?

So I had to come back and say, yeah I was a bit wrong. I have tried to set aside some time to assist with the limited knowledge I have and all I can say is, well, annoyed.

I can relate to needing help, I need it often, but I read first, I know the eloquent patterns for example but on the odd occassion I can't get my head around something and need a steer, that is all. But on the threads I have tried to help on I just hope I have not driven people as mad as some have driven me.

Example:

OP: I need help with x Me: Have you tried y OP: Not working, tell me something else Me: Have you tried z OP: Not working, tell me something else. Me: Can you post the error message for x OP: It says it's not found Me: But what is the error message? OP: I told you.

Ok, a little exaggerated but it's the theme. I am not saying I have the solution, I am just apologising to those who raised the issue and I was clearly not understanding the full extent of their frustration :P

Sometimes people's culture determines what is rude or not. I think almost anyone who has tried to help multiple times have run across the perception of rudeness. For example English is my wife's third language, well she has an amazing grasp on it she still comes across"different" like at a store and she picks up something heavy she will tell me your uterus fell out. And the looks start...

Point is some may not intend to come off rude, but it does seem that certain people will post every step of their project hence it feels like those who help are really building it.
