Download all

Hey! I just started my subscription, and I really enjoy the content on this site, especially the quality. But there is a (albeit very small) annoyance I do have.

Now, I know this has already been suggested, but the last time has been quite some time ago, and I would like to hear your current opinion on this topic. Of course it would be possible to write such a feature myself, but I would prefer a built-in way.

Would it be possible to add a "Download course"-button? Of course you can download single videos, but it would be better if there was just a single button for me to press to initiate downloading all videos at once instead of having to visit each lesson. Background is that I don't have a big data plan, so I can't stream the videos, but I really enjoy watching them when I use public transport.

Bonus points for allowing the user to specify a range of videos to download, e. g. using a single input with inputs like "8,11" or "2-5" (or just two inputs for ranges). This is not strictly needed, but would be nice nonetheless.

Thanks for making such an awesome website!

I'd honestly just prefer not to. Some other sites don't allow you to download videos at all.

There have been cases where users downloaded the videos and put them online on different sites, this way you make it much easier for them!

From business perspective it doesn't make much, if any sense, to allow users to download videos. To allow download all... Jeff would see significant decrease in his retention rate. The little inconvenience created by visiting each lesson to download a video is enough of a deterrent for some people.

put them online on different sites

If someone is determined enough to share videos, they will sit there and download them all one by one. There's nothing you can do in those cases, except not allowed downloads at all. Still people will screencast or something. It's impossible to control. Maybe with lawyers.

I don't think there has to be an answer to "why doesn't he offer it?". That's just not where @JeffreyWay attention is. It's non-trivial IMO.
