The problem is you cannot SSH into your a server with a free hosting account. Because it is a shared server and you do not have any permissions on that server outside of your public directory.

However If you are only trying to get your work online and don't mind all of your code being in the public folder, (WHICH IS NOT RECOMMENDED) or encouraged but you can do it, if you must.

The thing is you will have to copy your laravel project with all its dependencies and everything over to that public folder.

There are some youtube clips of guys doing it , search for something like laravel on shared server.

As for where you will find a free host, check out http://www.freewebhostingarea.com/

I do emplore you to spend a few bucks on a server and hosting and learn to do it correctly!

It is not entirely free, but hobby plan is almost free (3$)

I am not using this plan myself but I think it should be able to handle a laravel hobby sized project quite well (and there are options to scale later if you need)

I'd just like to add to @vapenation 's comment (great name btw) that you can turn off a digital ocean "droplet" when you don't need it. So if you need it for personal use such as practicing this will be extremely cheap. A month of hosting time costs only 5$. If you turn it off when you don't use it you can get great value out of digital ocean's hosting plan.

@TheAlter71 No. It runs your app in ephemeral “dynos” (containers) so you need to store your images somewhere like Amazon S3.

It’s also no longer free.

Hello, For some projects I use PlanetHoster with the free account. You get only 750MB and 2 MySQL bases, only FTP and no SSH. PHP is version 7.4.33 so you must avoid last Laravel version, they say they will upgrade to PHP 8 (but looks like is PHP 8.1 for new accounts). You must send a composer.phar for installation. Also you get a weird domain name. There are all these limitations but all work well.

For those who stumbled here. Laravel Cloud has free tier. and need to pay when scaling it up.
