The last thing that needs changing is the white box when you make a comment :D

There is a light / dark theme switcher, maybe it's just temporary, I don't know.

However, the light theme is no longer the same like before.

@MichalOravec mobile with light theme looks pretty good, but now desktop is brighter. What do you think.

@jeffreyway maybe make desktop not so loud on light theme.

_adrian's avatar

@MichalOravec @jlrdw Hmm. I don't think it's brighter. The light theme is the same. It's unchanged as far as I'm aware. I actually had a tab open of the forum before the dark mode implementation and if I switch between then and now it's identical. Well that and also I have the design files haha.

@jlrdw It does seem brighter to me as well, but looking at the old site https://imgur.com/a/qHR0RMO the colors seem to be the same. Maybe its the fact that you changed from dark to light and it skewed perception? Not sure. @michaloravec what do you think? I mean I can probably find entire laracast saved somewhere in my screenshots as well xD but seems like its same as before? It gives me the feeling that its also brighter but yeah not sure. The colors are the same.

Some screenshots I took, coz I think Oxbir convos were funny lol

@aurelianspodarec The background color and white boxes are the same.

But for instance the heart button is a little different color or icons on a profile page are now in light blue.

And there are many such small differences.

And as a whole, it's just different.

So don't let anyone say it's the same...

@MichalOravec I see it. You are 100% right. I though to myself something looks different when I switched to light theme and yes, indeed, there are just tiny changes. Like the heart button has more padding horizontallyand its just bit different.

The buttons on the left sidebar seems to be thicker now as well. I think "buttons" in general a thicker now, that's what that is. A change has been made to the button component.

Yeah, there have been changes to the light theme while the dark theme was placed live.

Edit: The button is also like that on dark theme but yeah, not something I noticed on dark theme, but can notice this on light theme.

Phew, switch back to light theme and relax...

btw, pagination on the main discussions list is badly styled. OK on paginated threads though.

@Snapey on desktop the pagination looks pretty good. And that style makes it easier to "jump" to a page. Much better than next previous.

@aurelianspodarec I considered this but since it's a new feature right now I thought it was best to have it on all the time so that there's no chance users miss it. I might consider doing the hover state a bit later, yes =]

@aurelianspodarec I don't know yet. Some other comments also mentioned that.

But I really think it's a good idea to keep such a theme switcher.

Hello @jeffreyway, new dark theme is cool, but I rather light theme. Dark theme makes harder to focus on content for me.

The threads select options fields, when adding a new post is difficult to read because the contrast is to low : white text on very light blue background.

_adrian's avatar

@vincent15000 Noted. Will let Jeffrey know about it so he can fix it when he has time. I think it's some bug related to the switcher. Thank you. =]

@vincent15000 Okay. Can you also tell me what browser you're using so we can narrow the issue down?

@_adrian Ok I have found it ... well ... not easy to guess as long as I didn't know it was the switcher ;) ... perhaps better to show it on each page ?

Dark is better for people with tired vision like me, but you have to listen to other opinions.

@_adrian @jeffreyway

I’m not sure if this relates to the new theme/switcher, or if the timing is just a coincidence, but since around the time the dark theme appeared, the My Activity timeline on the profile page seems to be a little incorrect:

According to the card that appears when you hover over your Total Experience, “Leave a reply that is liked” (gives you 50 points, but liking someone else’s reply doesn’t give you any points.

The timeline, however, shows +50 XP badges for other people’s posts that you have liked (with the text “Liked Comment [Question title]”), but nothing for your posts that other people have liked. That seems backwards, and I’m fairly sure it wasn’t like that a while ago.

I really love dark themes just because it's easy to read. I noticed an issue when you started to create a new thread Chennai dropdown is too light.

I see one improvement: If you achive a badge, the notification card is white with mostly white text :) Hard to read, but the rest of it looks great! Love the dark theme :)
