Just how configurable is Filament?

My work is wanting to use Nova or Filament, and we're weighing our options.

We need to be able to have a highly customizable UI, to the point where I don't think Filament has enough options to cover our needs.

Additionally, we already have an admin UI that we've built over the past 10 years, but it's not programmatically defined, and 30% of our codebase is blade templates that are basically the same. But we'd like something that can be partially integrated.

We like Nova's tech stack, as it's powered by an API, which means that we can build our own UI that interfaces with Nova's API. I've done something that this before, and it wasn't too difficult.

However, if Filament is actually configurable enough to get the UI we want, without have to rewrite the majority of its components, then I'd prefer to go that route.

To be clear, we're talking a completely different layout, theme, specifics on how input fields look, positioning of buttons, a different action selector, and more.

In short, we're wanting to replace existing UIs with very minimal changes to the look and feel.

Themes and Styling: Filament provides theming support, allowing you to adjust the visual appearance of the admin panel to some degree. However, the level of customization might be more limited compared to building a completely custom UI from scratch.
Layout and Structure: Filament's layout and structure might be customizable to some extent, but the degree to which you can modify the overall layout and arrangement of components might be determined by its framework.

Based on your requirements for a highly customizable UI with a different layout, theme, and styling, as well as your existing admin UI that you'd like to partially integrate, Nova seems like a stronger candidate. However, it's important to note that your familiarity with Nova's tech stack and your past experience with building a UI that interfaces with Nova's API will also play a significant role in making this decision.

@somaikoha, filament is built using livewire, alpine and tailwind and I wager to suggest you can do everything you need plus more. You can create custom livewire components, which will do whatever you want. There are a myriad of different helpers and traits to hook into the core filament functionality as well.

I've worked with both Nova and Filament and I've done extensive customisations with both, building custom calendars and all manner of components. Filament makes it easier for you to hook into the stages of model creation and updating and their 'syntax' isn't difficult to grasp.

Basically, it's your choice...
