Can we use Nova like this
I have a friend who has a project with Nova with a license and he asked me to work with him on that project, which means he is going to give me the project with the license details, are there any problems with Nova if we follow this route? The project is at this moment running only locally on his machine.

No issues at all. Nova licenses are either per site or unlimited. They're not per machine. We use Nova a lot and our entire team installs it with the same license.
