Thoughts on New Macbook Pro w/ Touch Bar

Any thoughts on the New Macbook Pro w/ Touch Bar? It will be my first time to buy a Macbook. Would you buy it or not? and Why?

No. No notable hardware improvement over previous versions, and I have no need for the touch bar. Additionally I'm not at all excited about the magsafe power going away, along with all the other ports going away. Probably the dumbest "pro" laptop Apple has devised to date.

@willvincent Thanks for your thoughts :) I'll be my first time purchasing a macbook. The reviews give me a big doubt though.

Really hate it that they removed all the port. HDMI gone. What are they thinking? Besides the port thing. I bought mine in 2012. Same install eversince, daily usage and it still works like charm.

I'm to attached to my Macbook PRO which still has some ports I can use without buying any adapters :) My little friend is already 6 years old but still works very good (gave it a SSD and RAM upgrade not to lang ago).

I have a new mac with the touch bar on pre order to be delivered dec 14th, I'm super happy about it. It's going to be if not the same as the previous version even better with better battery life etc. IF I don't use the touch bar which I probably won't who cares it looks cool LOL.

But I got the upgrades to it to so according to everyone I've talked to it's going to be a great machine.

The only thing it has the USB-C ports instead of the USB ports, so maek sure to get an adapter.

Oh and it's my first macbook pro purchase as well, I've used macs quite a bit over the last year but haven't owned one yet.

It's pretty much the same price too and if you say you use it for school and buy it from apple they give you like 300 off so it maeks it the exact same price. I am using it for school but they didn't ask for verification or anything so you might want to do that if you haven't already ordered it LOL.

If you want to save yourself some troubles and money, maybe have a hunt around for an older model. The new ones are nice though. Fast CPU and with an SSD, you can't go wrong and will last you years!

I have a MBP Retina 15" late 2013, 16GB, 256GB. Perfect, really.

Well, maybe Touch Bar can be a bit useful for coding. :) Sublime touchbar

@r3d@aeb.lt intrigued by that photo; do you have some information you can share about this?

@tykus, Sure! I use software named "BetterTouchTool". It allows you to customise TouchBar for any app you want. You can create your own buttons and bind any keyboard shortcuts to them. In my example "Go To" button does "CMD+P". You can even bind shortcut sequence. Like "CP Line" button does "CMD+Left arrow; CMD+SHIFT+Right arrow; CMD + C"
