I am overwhelmed with contents and does not know where to start

Dear all,

I hope this post finds you all well.

I am a recent high school graduate used to purchasing small-size Udemy courses, and I am overwhelmed with the sheer loads of courses and contents offered by Laracast. I tried to visit some of the topics and series, but I have no clue where I should start and, most importantly, which courses lead to the next. If possible, I would like to hear how I can plan my lessons and follow a practical roadmap to becoming a competent software engineer.

For your information, I have proficiency in React enough to build a static portfolio website, but that is about it. My goal is to best prepare for the upcoming co-op next year at the university I am attending and land my first software job.

To my understanding, there are multiple series meant for different purposes. If you have some advice on how I should plan my courses and what I could expect from them, it will motivate me to purchase a long-term subscription. If you got any thoughts, I would love to hear them.

Thank you in advance for your input, and I hope to hear from you soon!

Best regards, Young Jun Joo

Welcome. Hope you learn alot.

To get started I can highly recommend the "laravel 8 from scratch" series. If you haven't used php before I can also recommend the "php practitioner" series to get the basics of the language

@Sinnbeck Thank you for your response. I have never used PHP before. Should I start with the PHP practitioner course and then laravel 8 from scratch? Many thanks!

@youngjun827 yeah that would be a great start. The real fun starts with laravel, but it will go alot easier if you at least understand the basics.

And laravel works great with react. I use them together daily
