I’ve noticed this too and it’s quite annoyed when trying to mention someone in a thread.

When mentioning someone, the link breaks if the user has hypens
When replying in the comment section of the series or mentioning an existing user with the @ sign, if the user has a hyphen or similar character the link will break.
user-name will only recognize user as the user name and will link to https://laracasts.com/@user.
