Laravel From Scratch / Example Projects

Hi Laracasts,

Long time viewer and semi-consistent subscriber here, I actually brought lifetime membership this time around in the sale as in the past Laracasts has provided me hours of training for a very low monthly cost. However, I've noticed that the content recently seems to be a little lacking based on core Laravel 7 / 8 - there are basically only two "from scratch" courses available for 7 / 8 and neither of them really focus on topics such as authentication in Laravel, etc.

I felt the video game aggregator course could have been a section of a more generic series - focusing on HTTP requests and responses. Multitenancy was a nice course, but I was kind of hoping for a multi-database version for scalability - managing the migration of new tenants rather than just relying on the same bloated database.

Overall, I've found myself focusing on some Udemy courses to fill the v7 / v8 void left by Laracasts over the last couple of months. Many of the courses I've picked up there over the last year have now been updated for v7 / v8.

It would be good to get an updated "Laravel From Scratch" for v8, or even some example projects with TDD and Laravel using v8, with lessons on using Fortify for authentication, tailwind CSS. It would even be good to know that this is on the horizon or not.

While I will never regret my decision to purchase a lifetime membership, I am worried for the future given the lack of current content and the speed in which content is being delivered (for example, It's been nearly 3 months, and still no course on Jetstream or Fortify?)

Laravel 8 is almost the same as Laravel 6 which is that Laravel From Scratch series. What is new you find in the documentation or here in What's new in Laravel X series.

Apart from Authentication... which has totally changed. There are various other things that have changed as well... Which cause pain when following along...

I'm following along to learn - not spend 50% watching and 50% searching around for answers for things that don't work when I do follow along. It's about speed of learning.

Yes - it's ALMOST the same - but its not the same, is it?
