Valet interrupts public .dev site connections

I've been unable to load non-local .dev sites (e.g. shopify.dev) and I'm pretty sure it is because Valet serves the requests. I get the error NET::ERR_CERT_COMMON_NAME_INVALID and the attached certificate is related to a local .test domain that I've created and linked using Valet.

I am not very networking and server savvy so any help would be appreciated!
