Using Vite with Laravel 8.
Has anyone used Vite with Laravel prior to version 9? We're currently on version 8 and we're not ready to upgrade to 9, as we would also need to update PHP.
The HMR reloading would be nice and all, but I really only care about compiling the Vue code using TypeScript. Before I go looking to replace Laravel Mix, I was wondering if anyone else out there has successfully swapped in Vite and what they thought of the development experience.

But there is also a 3rd party package https://laravel-vite.netlify.app/
Just be aware that most people here use the official plugin so finding help might be hard
