Best practices for 404 page customization

In forge.laravel.com taylor use default 404 page ( Whoops, looks like something went wrong. ) but on the laravel.com taylor use customize 404 page. I really confused about when I need to change default 404 page? only when my Laravel apps related to web site?

You want the forge a like view while you are developing and you want a laravel a like view when you are in production. This way you get a clear message while developing and the user get's a more general but less technical message
