The licenses is for Spark, not Laravel. Your license will be valid for an entire major Spark release.

Licences and 5.3
Hi,
I am likely to purchase Spark in the very near future in order to start a project; however given the pending release of Laravel 5.3 is it worth waiting?
The license page says the following.
Licenses are valid for an entire major release "series". In other words, a license entitles you to all updates for Spark 1.x. Each license may only be used on a single site unless it is a multi-site license.
Anyone know if there're any pending releases of Spark or if I should just go ahead?

I appreciate that, but I figured that given that I can't yet upgrade Spark to L5.3, there may well be a new release of Spark to support the upgrade.

I highly doubt a new Spark major version will be released to support L5.3
