More payment provider(s) for potential subscribers

I was browsing the site(map) and then had to wonder about the lack of payment providers for any potential subscriber.

I dont have a credit card as I never needed one and dont wish to use one ever. Considering todays myriad payment options (Paypal for instance, in my opinion a proven platform for performing payments online) one would expect a platform like laracasts.com, being all about web-dev-innovations-tutorials, to have atleast a few different payment options available for any potential subscribers.

Another question aside from the payment option: exactly what is the advantage for the subscribed paying customer opposite the free version? I can only imagine having more screencasts available concerning more 'stuff' but what stuff exactly, as I cant seem to figure it out by browsing the website. Perhaps a "This is what paying subscribers get" explanation could bring some instant clarity?

As a visual learner I really love the screencasts but again, as a non-creditcard-person, I feel a bit left out of the entirety of the pie (perhaps the best part of the pie?). Not only am I short(er) on my piece of the pie this way but its a twoway street really as it also means less income for laracasts.com, business-wise not the best of possible scenario's.

I can't comment on the payment bit, aside from PayPal used to be very biased towards the customer and would make it very easy to reverse payments', which in turn would cause for a lot of non payers to have watched premium content. PayPal has improved that part of their business recently though, so who knows.

What do you get for paying? The best way to find out is to browse all the series here at Laracasts, note down the ones you are interested in and then see how many of them are paid. That will give you an insight in whether the paid plans are worth it. If its only the one or two series, maybe a month subscription is enough.

I actually got a creditcard just to get a premium membership, specifically for the forum-series. I'm with the Rabobank and it only cost me 50 cents more on the account I already had. So it doesn't cost much and for me it was worth it. And you can get a prepaid kind of creditcard too, which works like a voucher. I cant think of the name right now, but have a Google.

I know what you mean about PayPal being biased still there are lots of other providers regardless.

Browsing it all but isnt that for webpage-nav what verbosity is in programming languages: a modern website lacking crystalclear navigation, having to click on every single series page, which is quite cumbersome actually (screencasts tutoring speed and efficiency while not following that same recipe considering its local navigation ;-) ).

Thanks for your reply Thyrosis, I'll just have to live with it I guess.

Thanks for your reply Helmchen but I do want to have the same options with regard to creditcard subscribers, to be able to explore/tryout for about a month (or a few months even) before having to finance a year long subscription in advance.

@DevFromRotterdam for that i used https://www.mycard2go.com/ which will give you a one time prepaid credit card for free.

with the 'free plan' you can charge up to 100 Euro once with many payment options.

it only takes some minutes to be able to use the card.

you don't have to charge 100 Euro, but keep in mind that you can only charge once, before you have to verify your identity, so you probably want to charge at least 20 Euro so you can test 2 months of laracasts :)

Try browsing by skill (see "Skills" in menu) to get a better list of related series: For example, series about PHP: https://laracasts.com/skills/php

Or go to "Catalog" for a more advanced search. You can filter by lesson type (series, series episode, single tutorial), skill, difficulty, length etc., for example, popular series episodes about testing: https://laracasts.com/lessons?type=episode&skill=2&popularity=desc
