Laracasts Refresh

As you may have noticed, Laracasts has a new pair of pants today. A few quick notes on this:

  • There is no scenario where I undo three months worth of work, so please don’t be that person who flippantly writes, “Bring back the old design.” That’s not nice, and ruins my day. I worked hard on this. Laracasts doesn't have a big team of designers working on it every day, so this is the best I can do.
  • If you come across any visual bugs, please do reply here or submit a support request, and I’ll fix them right away.

Notable Updates

  • New design. (Duh).
  • Every line of CSS was rewritten.
  • All new series thumbnails.
  • Brand new forum layout. This should make it somewhat easier to browse and filter threads.
  • Better mobile browsing.
  • Episodes in a series automatically advance and play the next video, upon completion.
  • You may now subscribe or purchase shirts with Alipay (for China) and Apple Pay. If you purchased the new MacBook Pro, that means you can subscribe to Laracasts on your laptop with your finger.
  • The curated series page will list trending courses, ones you’re currently working through, as well as a number of collections that you might be interested in.
  • On the /lessons catalog page, you may now sort by series, as well as filter according to your Completions, Watch Laters, and Favorites.
  • Browse and listen to the Laracasts Snippet podcast without visiting the Simplecast page. The "Launch Day" episode just went up, by the way. https://laracasts.com/podcast
  • When performing a search (in the navbar area), you'll see instant results.
  • Switched over to Cloudfare to help with caching/minification/bla bla bla.

Looks great. On mobile the frontpage's about section (the one in dark) doesn't work :(

Amazing! I love specially the new profile page.

Fancy! :-D Congratulations! :-D

Edit: is it deliberate that you can't see who 'thumbs up' posts any more? Not sure if it's just my browser or a design choice :-)

That was unexpected. Looks amazing though!

@JeffreyWay - The one where you talk about who you are. Starting with: "There's a chance you may already know me!"... I'm using iPhone 6S

Looks awesome! Two things I noticed (running chrome on Ubuntu):

  1. The twitter button on the footer has a light background which makes it hard to see;

  2. The floating heads on the landing page look unaligned with the dotted lines (not sure if it was suppose to look like this though... Just my OCD talking here);

Love the new logo. Right now forum seems a bit "narrow" I guess I will get used to.

It does look incredible but it's a bit too white for my eyes.

Nice look!

If you click the "My Laracasts" it will stay on even when you click elsewhere on the page.

@JeffreyWay When I edit my profile, the Country Flag is selected by default to United States, not to my already before saved country.

Looking good but found a tiny bug. when i click on mark as complete (Lesson No.) button repeatedly 3-4 times on series page. completion % goes above 100% and keeps flickering. gif: http://imgur.com/ttf8qjO

I also miss pagination buttons at the beginning of the posts.

UPDATE: In this current page I can't find a button to go to the previous page.

@jfvoliveira - It does that on purpose. That way, you can continue filtering. "Of my completed lessons, further filter them down to easy Laravel videos, that are short in length.

@phpMick Understood. I personally like a lot of white.
