The old design was very good, but the new one is much better. Thanks for the time and hard work you put to please our eyeballs.
Good job, @JeffreyWay , loving the fresh looks! Can't wait for some more front-end type of screencasts.
You should be proud, this is an epic redesign, love the use of white space!
I love it! Is it built with VueJS? Prefer it way over the old design, great job.
Awesome job on the redesign!
Awesome stuff!
Laracasts now feels like a single page application. Maybe that's the magic of Turbolinks. Hopefully, we will see a full Single Page Application one day in the future, powered by not Vue 2 but Vue 3 :D
Anyway, I am curious, why aren't the pages using the full width of the screen? Too much usage of bootstrap's container class? :D
Also, I just noticed this:

Why is the yearly plan feeling any different than the others? Thug life maybe? :D
Edit:
I've also noticed the following bug:

Some links are trying to escape from prison here! Stop them!
Awesome work Jeffrey. It looks amazing!
New site is fine but I do miss one feature. I watch new videos every day. Well at least every day they are posted. This is my use case. I monitor the RSS feed for newly posted videos. Then to watch the video I would login, go to my Dashboard which would provide new videos available since I had previously logged in. So I do miss that detail unless it is actually someplace on the site and I just didn't find it.
Awesome work Jeffrey, congratulations!
The new website looks fantastic. There's a lot of scrolling which isn't necessarily a bad thing.
Great design! Feel nice and roomy. Everything is a bit larger, but I don't have young eyes anymore, so it's much easier to read. Cheers!
Seems Great, It's a fact that people needs change, But they don't know it. ????????
By the way, You should really add the unicode support in laracasts.
@JeffreyWay the watermark seems to be in front of the playback speed and quality menus on the video player where you can't access them. The site looks great overall!
Not a 'visual bug', but this version suffer of the same 'problem' of the older one. The video size in notebooks (15,6 inch / 1366x768) doesn't fit the screen (is bigger).
=/
That Todd guy really is an a-hole!
@kel - Thanks! I pushed a z-index fix for that just now. Good catch.
@nthipps - Totally.
@vitorarjol - I'll be working on that tonight.
Wow, great job. It's way easier to navigate now.
would be cool if u do a screencast about this instant filter search! it's amazing!
On the list of lessons (/lessons), I filtered some unwatched single tutorials, to check which lessons I have not yet watched (or are shown as unwatched). When I got to the bottom of the list, I saw that there's another page. I clicked on page 2 and I saw There's nothing yet message with the pagination showing as < 1 >.
@jeffereyway cant seem to @someone anymore like before?
I really like the new design but two things:
- how do i see the latest series thats bbeen updated?
- not sure about the fav icon.. (just my opinion)
The new style and layout is ace! Did you considered having a 'dark' theme the user could choose out of interest? You know because devs love the IDEs and what not haha.
ok i cant also click on edit reply so i am having to create a new reply instead..
(when i do @jeff etc drop down doesnt appear i just guesed your username and wrote@j... which seems to be highlighted so i supposed that worked.
Another thing i noticed is the code colour seems to be unreadable i.e. when i do code (deliberately added more ` )
also on the forums sometimes the top menu loooks big..
Good design!! Minimalist ... I love it
Very good Job !
@JeffreyWay: The new design is quite sexy! I knew that it would be amazing, but wasn't expecting such a huge change. Well done... I'm truly amazed.
@JeffreyWay one observation, in the listing in the forum, it's possible to implement the visited behavior, because i'm losing reading again the post was i visited
saludos
@JeffreyWay new design is great, however there is an ux issue:
On lessons list, most important thing should be lesson title (in my opinion) and now first two elements are if it's completed or not and its category... it's difficult to catch the lesson title.. https://i.imgur.com/VC1xI9d.png
simple opacity change can do the work: https://i.imgur.com/7t4fYEt.png
@Jeff , Another issue I just noticed. On mobile, the hamburger works once, and then the menu keeps coming back. I can make it stop if I hold down the hamburger longer than usual, but it's unnatural.
iPhone 7 plus on chrome.
@JeffreyWay, You should totally easter egg the word cloud surrounding the guy on the homepage by linking to relevant lessons/series
Flat out amazing work!
I really like the changes for the forum -- my participation.
Also, I'm amazed that it seems like you've re-watermarked all the videos.
Did you slow them down slightly?
Just blown away, great job!
