PHP Laravel 5.6 - Vendor email notification send out with incorrect database field data
I have a booking system where customers have the option to either pay in full at check out or put a 30% deposit down. In the admin panel of my booking system I can cancel bookings. Two bookings get created, one with a full amount paid and one with a partial amount. I have a is_partial field in the invoice database and one field that is_paid. I am trying to change the following code to where it shows the correct amount refunded on the customer cancellation email notice. Right now the code works fine if I cancel a partial booking where only one payment has been made but when I cancel a booking where the invoice is paid in full the customer cancellation states the amount refunded is $0.0. There is two fields on the database that determine the amount paid if partial booking the amount paid is store in the amount_paid field and if paid in full the amount paid is store in the amount field.

Right now the correct amount only shows if someone makes a partial payment and they call and cancel. Upon cancelling the system issues a refund and customer gets an email with the refund amount. However if someone makes a full payment upfront and they decide to cancel a refund is also issue but the email shows $0 being refunded instead of correct amount. I m trying to figure out this piece of code to fix the issue or what im doing wrong on that statement?

The code you have showed will always print the same thing irrespective of the status of is_partial

I notice that @if($refund_status) is a boolean.
I tried doing something like:

But when I cancel and refund a booking the email never sends out to the customer?
Is almost like the boolean: @if($refund_status) is what sets off the email out to the customer?
How ever if I put statements like above it doesn't work?

For anyone experiencing this issue see notes below.
I had some html comments in the blade template <!-- html comment --> and I learned that PHP Laravel blade templates do not like html comments instead a comment is {{-- comment here --}} so this was breaking my code and causing the email not to work.
As far as the nested if statements I was able to execute the code with the correct payment amounts in the body of the cancellation email by doing:
{{-- If booking is paid then execute correct amount in email body --}}

@if($booking->invoice->is_partial == 0)
@if($booking->invoice->is_paid == 1)
