I think the [33m, [32m, etc. are the foreground color code in git bash? It is annoying and its hard to read. How can I just see the commands and maybe make the foreground colors work in git bash?

Thanks!

For displaying escaped characters, please try changing Git Bash options for terminal to "xterm-256color" by Right Click on Terminal > Options > Terminal > Type > xterm-256color

I have the same issue on windows 10.

Changing Git Bash options for terminal to "xterm-256color" does NOT work for me.

Any other suggestion?

This is kind of an alternate solution, not an answer to your question..

Just get ConEmu and you'll have Quake style (if you prefer) console with tabs, search and tons of options..

If you're as old as I am, you probably remember Norton Commander,..

This seems like it could be caused by: https://github.com/symfony/symfony/issues/19520

If I run git bash inside Phpstorm the colors are also messed up when using artisan calls.

As I don't want to use windwows cmd or powershell I currently simply add --no-ansi to php artisan commands like :

php artisan --no-ansi
