I recently completed the OOB PHP series and then decided to jump into some Code Katas before I progress into Laravel. But straight away it goes into TDD and phpspec which I am not familiar with so this whole setup is very new to me and not really sure what is happening in the beginning. Is there a recommend route before this, as it seems like I might get quite confused by Katas if the initial set up is like that.
@Fenwick17 It's not that difficult, just give phpspec a few minutes and you'll actually end up enjoying it. Begin with PHPSpec is So Good and -if you like- have a look at some other videos around phpspec, e.g. https://laracasts.com/series/testing-jargon/episodes/1
What you will learn there will come in handy later - trust me. And if you have any questions, do not hesitate to ask here.
Thanks, I'll give this a look. Just want sure where to go that knowledge prior to going into code katas.
The first few minutes of episode 1 of code katas confused me. So hopefully that will sort that
@Fenwick17 If it's about setting up phpspec outside of a Laravel project then the first video I've linked (PHPSpec is So Good) should help.
If it's Gulp, just ignore it (for now) and trigger the tests by running phpspec manually.
If there is anything else that confused you, let us know and we will try to clear things up.
I have used Gulp before for compiling my Sass (Junior front end dev). I will run through Jeffreys PHP storm set up video tonightm then look into what you have linked. Hopefully that will clear some stuff up and I can dive in.
