How upload .env to production when deploy

I have finished developing my web-site. It works perfectly.

As far as I get it, now in order to deploy it I have to change my DB settings in my .env file.

Ok, I did it. But how am I supposed to upload it? This file is in .gitignore and not supposed to be uploaded...

(i'm deploying on Railway.app free PaaS)

@marre86 shouldn' the .env be unique to the environment; i.e. credentials used locally for development should be different from production.

In any case, you can set environment variables in your app's dashboard
