I would avoid shared hosting. It can make deploying a major headache and is not much cheaper than having your own vps. I hosted my first Laravel project on a shared server and it sucked. It took me almost a week to get it working properly and having to ftp constantly was problematic and caused lots of version control issues.
I now use digitalocean and have my own vps. I pay $10 US a month. It took a little time to learn about servers, but it was worth it.
