Add Google map api to search places near by user location

Hi guys,I am trying to add google map api to let a users find a nearest gym from user location I was trying to do it from client site by following this article https://softauthor.com/vue-js-google-maps-api-build-a-nearby-places-app/#user-input-form-using-semantic-ui. but it seems like the the way to do from article is not working any more because https://cors-anywhere.herokuapp.com/ web proxy which is use to solve problem ' No 'Access-Control-Allow-Origin' header is present on the requested resource.' is not working anymore . So ,is there a way to do similar thing to this from server side?? Thank you
