[PHP Storm] Update to 8.0

PHP is pestering me to update, and I really want to, but I had a quick question.

When I update, will I lose all of my projects, plugins, themes, git integration, etc?

I would hate to have to set all that up again. :(

Hi @JoshWilley, I proposed to Jetbrains to make use of cloud storage capabilities for manage it with the Jetbrains User Account or using Github repositories for manage settings and custom user files with some of these options. The minimal space requirements of the first option, I think would not be limitant.

Would be similar to Creative Cloud and the storage of some settings, brushes, color swatches, and so on in Photoshop.

In a Team environment may be useful for sharing uniform settings and snippets.

@codeatbusiness - This would be an excellent idea. They should be well aware that the users of PHP Storm treat their customization/plugins etc as very valuable. I would really like to see this as a feature.

Hi Josh. I updated last night (linux) by overwriting the dir that I had v7 installed to. When I launched v8 for the first time it just asked me if I wanted to import the setting from v7 - I did and it works fine :-)

I updated to v8.0 last night and had no issues my theme is still there all my live templates are still there, everything is still the same. So you should be good to go!

I've used PHPStorm since V1 and upgrades on mac are (usually) painless, they have been rock solid for the past 3-4 versions now, but it's always a good practice to rename your old one and keep it around for a bit. Also note that the upgrade system they use starts when your old subscription expired - so if you delay upgrading you don't really buy yourself anything out in the future.
