Moving Models to another Database

I am working a school administration app and am stuck at promoting my students from one grade to another for example. Student A is in Grade 1 and after 3 terms( one term is 3 months) he has been promoted to Grade 2. i don;t know how to go about it .I am totally lost on how to go about this issue. I would really appreciate any help .
