Elasticsearch, Algolia or AWS CloudSearch - Poor Man's Search Options?
Search is at the core of almost every web app, and I think Scout does a fantastic job. However, I see that most of the tutorials and threads focusing on Algolia; which, IMHO is super expensive. My app's beginning with ~500K records and combining that with other requirements for my site, I'd be looking at paying a minimum of $200/mo to Algolia.
..but I'm not rich (yet ;-) )
That's the reason I began searching for alternatives. I wish to know from the community members what are their recommendations?

Thank you, @DevilStar . I did look at several packages. Some of them haven't been updated. My only issue with the packages is that if they go unmaintained after a while; it creates a big problem.
Plastic does seem to be a nice solution and I'm going to explore it. I'm however open to other suggestions.
