can I use my own php app on herd

I want to use my php app and not laravel app on herd, is that possible, if yes, how?

it seems herd does not have a mysql database by default? is that correct? should I need to install mysql separatley

Yes. Herd can use Valet's Custom Drivers - create your own if needed - to serve non-Laravel applications.

Database is not Herd (or Valet's) concern; consider using DBngin to spin up your desired local database for development.
