Build a global action network

Hi,

We started an OpenSource project dedicated to collective empowerment: http://collectivz.info/en/42-en/

We are currently looking for the best framework to support the project, and also for some guidance to help our students with the framework.

The development team is provided by the School 42, an innovative french IT school based on Peer2Peer learning: http://www.42.fr/42-revolutionary-computer-training-free-and-open-to-all/

Laravel communities seem very alive and the framework itself has been recommended to us by several people. Yet, we still hesitate between Laravel and Symfony and we would like to have a feedback from you guys before making our final choice.

This project has been matured for 2 years. It is supported by a network of innovators who believe that collective intelligence can save the world. We have high hopes and we want to choose the right community to make our vision a success.

Thanks!

I would recommend Laravel as well and here is why

  • It's scalable (You can even use https://lumen.laravel.com for fast API's)
  • Laravel can be used by beginners and by pro's (You can make it as complex as you wish)
  • Huge community (Laracasts, variety of chat rooms, etc.)
  • Awesome documentation and examples

Laravel is build on top of Symfony, so that means you don't get to see much of Symfony. However Symfony has a higher learning curve then Laravel which makes it harder to start with!

Hope I could help a bit ;)

It helps :-)

One question however: since the project will be developped by students, do you think some senior profiles from Laravel communities will be willing to provide some guidance?

Since the project is an OpenSource plateform decicated to collaborative action, maybe that the tool can be of some interest to the Laravel community to help team working.

Thanks!
