Valet + Laravel Websockets + Local Network

I'm trying to setup a demo in a local environment with laravel-websockets (https://beyondco.de/docs/laravel-websockets/getting-started/introduction). I use Valet (linux) to serve my projects. On a dev machine everything is workin well (client (browser) can connect to WS server, Laravel server can broadcast events to clients via the WS server). The Websockets Url is referring to the Valet project name -> project.test.

Now I want to test this more thoroughly and have some other clients in the house connect to the application. For the application itself I use php artisan:serve --host="192.168.0.13' --port="8081". This way I can connect from any device in the local network to the application. Great for testing.

However I don''t succeed in letting those clients connect to the websockets server. I've changed the websockets url to 192.168.0.13 and launched laravel-websockets with the command 'php artisan websockets:server --host 192.168.0.13"

However that doesn't let me connect with following error message: WebSocket connection to 'wss://192.168.0.13:6001/app/app-key?protocol=7&client=js&version=7.0.6&flash=false' failed.

Is there anyone with some experience in this that could help me out?

Best regards,

I have the exact same issue. Please let us know if you fixed it so far! I'm thinking of working without SSL locally.

If I am not wrong, you're trying to share your project url with other people,

Have you try using valet share? using ngrok?

you can also make it secure with valet secure before sharing it using valet share
