Creating Reports, Wallboards & Dashbaords in Laravel Nova

We have a CRM system built on laravel nova, and i have been asked to create some reports & wallboards for different aspects of our company. Most based around our sales & activities (Calls, appointments, leads etc). I have been having a look into some custom tools using add ons like Vue Good Table and a few other similar JS charting apps. What i am having trouble with is getting data from the database, and i cannot for the life of me find any helpful tutorials. Everything is either much too simple, and manually inputs data to the tables, or the opposite spectrum which is a fair bit above my current skill level. Does anyone know of anywhere i can find tutorials or more information on pulling data from the database into the custom tools?
