The HerdHelper windows service is not running...
can somebody help me here? i installed herd on my PC. theres an error saying that herdhelper is not running (while it is running in windows services) and the status is red. in general settings in the red box which shows the error, theres a "write to Hosts file" option, which when i click on it the powershell opens and closes immidately. I have fully uninstalled herd and again reinstalled it with admin permissions, checked the herdhelper service etc but nothing works... ( i have windows. FYI i had Xampp and PHP installed before but i deleted them and tried again and didnt work.)

And actually, having spent 2 days trying to get a dev environment set up... the end result is I have crap in Windows that does not work no matter what I do.... I have WSL, I am going to fall back to a raw linux install of a dev environment.. I can install and configure Ngnix manually... node and php as well. Screw you Microsoft.
