hey guys, do you know of any company/non-profit that I could do volunteer work for (as a PHP/Laravel developer)?
@rfmapp Surely if you’re going to donate your time and skills doing volunteer work, it should be for an organisation that you’re actually interested in/care about? Otherwise you’re just doing free work for the sake of it.
Find an organisation that would benefit and that you would be happy to spend time helping. For example, I offered help to my hometown soccer team and got involved in a redesign of their website, and will be working on their season tickets platform shortly.
@martinbean I understand the idea of donating time and skills to what one cares about (I do that for two charities here in my city, not IT-related work because they don't need that at this moment), but in this case, I'm willing to do it for any organization in need of this specific skill, someone knowledgeable on PHP/Laravel, even if it's for the sake of it.
My goal is to find work to be done that does not require me to be hired, that I can compromise a few hours a week, so I can help and also keep improving my skills.
@rfmapp You’re not going to find a shortage of people wanting work done for free…
