Building SPA using api instead of inertia js

Hello , I used to build websites with (laravel,react,inertia js) but now I decided to try api instead of inertia js, can someone explain it to me theoretically from routing to controller to render a view . + i also see some examples are using routing/web.php and routing/api.php + api resources .. Thanks
