php artisan event:generate not creating files

When I run php artisan event:generate it is not creating the event or handler files.

I get a 'Events and handlers generated successfully!' message but the files aren't created.

I have checked folder permissions and that's all ok.

Here is my Events Service Provider code

        'App\Events\PodcastWasPurchased' => [
            'App\Handlers\Events\EmailPurchaseConfirmation',
        ],
    ];

Any body know why the files wouldn't be getting created?
