Feedback to my media sharing site

Hi,

I am not 100% sure if this is allowed to ask for, in case it is not, I will delete my post right away.

Because of Laracast and this helpful forum I was able to create a social media sharing site and I would love to receive some feedback from you guys. My site is called: https://clooud.tv

Now, you might ask yourself, why another “media sharing” site? Fair question. Quite frankly, I felt like there was not an all-around solution of monetizing your possible “viral” content and sharing your media on a modern site. With sites like “Photobucket”, “imgur” and “Youtube”, there are solutions of sharing quality media, but wouldn’t it be awesome if they gave back to the users who made them so popular? I feel like that’s would be a great feature. And so does Youtube.

I wanted to create a safe and private platform with a focus on giving back to the users for their content, whether it may be audio or video files, or images. Soon non-media files will be able to be monetized as well.

Thanks so much for reading and maybe reviewing :-)

Hi @Chris1904

The site looks very nice, I like the clean design. A few minor things..

  • The report abuse page is blank
  • If you go to the popular page and change the view to bigger pictures, there is a bug
  • If you go to forgot password page, the login/register links are broken
  • On the register page, there is no client side validation which is very annoying because you get the reCaptcha and then it submits and you get the errors, which means you have to do the reCaptcha again and again until you get it right.
  • On the affiliate page, why is it per 10 000 instead of per 1 000?

Hi @SaeedPrez

Thanks so much for the feedback and the bug reports. Most of it is fixed. :-)

I will add the client side validation sometime during the day today, really good idea. Here I thought that the new invisible captcha would almost eliminate filling out the captcha for me, but heck, it comes up almost more often than before with Recaptcha 2 haha

The reason I chose to use 10 000 instead of 1 000 is only due to the fact the similar other outlets use the same metrics. But I agree, I haven't given it much thought and I already like the idea of 1 000 better. Will be added as well :-)

Thanks so much,

really means a lot!

@Chris1904 isn't is ironic that you ask your client to downgrade his subscription?

What do you mean by "use of excessive bandwidth"? Does this mean that a video with 1000 concurrent view will be flagged?

How do you check for the files' copyright? Is this, a wait until someone sends me notifications? AFAIK someone already uploaded videos to your site.

You have a very good concept. Keep it up.

Hi @cviv

Yes you are right, when it comes to the subscriptions there is a lot of work to do. I do like having a clear and easy to understand interface of how downgrading can be done though. But plenty of work still to do here lol

What I mean by "excessive use of bandwith" is simply that I reserve the right to stop offering the service to users that abuse the system. The current file upload limit if 5Gb, which is pretty high for these early stages. If there are users just uploading 5Gb over and over again in order to hurt our capacities, I would rather not deal with them. Haha

When it comes to copyrighted material it is tricky. I clearly don't condone any of it, but we don't have any AI that is smart enough to flag those yet, so if this does happen we have the option to report such media.

Thanks so much for your kind words :-)

I have another specific question to this site:

would it be smart to choose AWS to store files? Or would it make more sense to just add storage space on my server once I start running low? Because after 3 days already 17GB of space is used out of 1TB. It is fairly cheap to add on, but I am just wondering.
