Working with Spark app.js

Is it possible to extend this file to use outside of Spark? When I try to include it in blade files in the views folder that aren't part of the spark setup, it says "Spark is not defined".

It seems crazy to have a separate app.js file I call in for none Spark content, so is it just the case I should try and extend everything from within the spark/views folder for the layouts?
