License valid for major version only
Hello!
I was just about to pick up a license for Spark to get going but I noticed this little text I've never seen before: "Licenses are valid for an entire major release "series". In other words, a license entitles you to all updates for Spark 4.x."
Is this actually being applied? Looking back at the changelog and history I would feel pretty stumped if I bought a license as soon as Spark 3 was released and 4 months later Spark 4 is out.. I don't remember seeing this text before.
I can understand the pricing model but it makes it very unclear when major versions can bumped in just a 4 month period and that makes me wonder if I should wait for a potential version 5 since 4 has been out for a while.
Has anyone run into problems with this?

Ok, that's cool. Still unclear if that means that version 4 is the last free upgrade though!

I have a license. When I check my license on spark.laravel.com, it says the domain it's tied to, license type (Single/Multi), the "Series", ie "Spark 4.0" and the purchase date.
I can't state whether it's enforced. I purchased my license when Spark 3.x was current version and a few weeks later Spark 4 came out and I was able to upgrade via composer. I don't know whether I was able to upgrade because I purchased it within x days of Spark 4 coming out, or whether they don't enforce the series it's tied to. I suspect it's because I purchased x days before the new version came out.
However, if I go to purchase a license, it states:
Licenses are valid for an entire major release "series". In other words, a license entitles you to all updates for Spark 4.x. Each license may only be used on a single site unless it is a multi-site license.
