Connect external accounts after registration

How do I allow users connect their accounts on my website to their external accounts without giving them the ability to register or log in with those external accounts (exactly how the Spark website does it with Github)? Everything I've read seems to teach you how to let users log in with external accounts. But I don't want that. I just want something exactly like Spark's Github settings page, that has a 'Connect to Github' button.
